Xiaomi is prepping for its mega launch event in China on May 31, where the company will be unveiling the flagship Xiaomi Mi 8, fitness band Mi Band 3 and its next-generation user interface MIUI 10. The Chinese company has been teasing these launches for a while now. A new teaser coming from Xiaomi hints the Mi 8 could land in at least eight countries which also includes India. As you can clearly see in the image below, Xiaomi has added eight locations from different countries and the third one clearly highlights Taj Mahal in India. Alongside India, the Mi 8 could be launched in Egypt, Spain, Italy, Russia and France.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 will be unveiled in China on May 31. Post the launch in its homeland, Xiaomi might announce the device in other markets such as mentioned above. Having said that, the presence of India is surprising because Xiaomi did not launch the Mi 6 in the sub-continent, thanks to the failure of Xiaomi Mi 5. Instead, the company brought the Mi Mix 2 to the country, but that didn't do well for the brand because the segment is dominated by OnePlus.

Xiaomi also launched the Mi Mix 2S in China and various other countries, but it didn't bring it to India. So maybe Xiaomi is looking to bring back the Mi flagship series to the Indian market.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 is expected to come in a couple of variants- a standard one and a special edition one. There could be a Global Edition too, after all, if the launch in eight countries is believed to be true.

Coming to the rumoured features of the Xiaomi Mi 8, the phone is expected to have a 6.2-inch Full HD+ notched display and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The device is also touted to come with advanced Face Recognition features which will take on Apple's Face ID. The special edition device might arrive with an under-display fingerprint scanner, but the normal version seems to have the physical scanner though. The launch is scheduled for May 31, where all the official details will be revealed.
