Coolpad has finally launched the successor to the Coolpad Note 5 smartphone in India. Dubbed as the Coolpad Note 6, the device is aimed at selfie enthusiasts because it offers dual selfie cameras on the front, but sadly, the smartphone comes with the older 16:9 aspect ratio display, which is underwhelming in 2018. Coolpad should have added an 18:9 display to the Note 6 to appeal more consumers. The Coolpad Note 6 will be available in a single Gold colour option, and it offers decent specifications such as 4070mAh battery, 1080p display, Snapdragon 435 SoC and more importantly dual selfie cameras on budget. The device will stack against the Xiaomi Redmi 5 in India which boasts a better processor and 18:9 display on the front.
Coolpad Note 6 Specifications
As always, Coolpad has added decent specifications to the Note 6, which will surely appeal Indian consumers. The Coolpad Note 6 features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 403 PPI. Coolpad says the phone offers a screen-to-body ratio of 70%. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC and comes in two variants. Both the variants feature 4GB of RAM, but the storage differs. The base variant has 32GB of onboard storage, and the premium one comes with 64GB of storage. Coolpad also added a dedicated microSD card slot which accepts SD cards up to 128GB.
The USP of the phone, however, is the dual selfie cameras. The Coolpad Note 6 has a 13MP camera at the back with f/2.2 aperture, 6P lens and PDAF support. Up front, there are two cameras of an 8MP primary unit and a 5MP secondary unit. The secondary sensor is a wide-angle one with 120-degree field-of-view. The camera app offers features such as Beauty mode, Motion mode, Erase mode, Panorama and so on.
The smartphone boots Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box with Coolpad's own UI on top. It comes with features such as split screen mode, scroll screenshot and game dock which is a DND mode that comes into play while gaming. The phone measures 8.62mm in thickness and has a weight of 170grams to it. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the front below the display, and the phone offers other sensors such as Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor and Ambient Light Sensor.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and dual-SIM support. This entire package is backed by a 4070mAh battery which as per Coolpad will offer a standby time of up to 350 hours.
Coolpad Note 6 Availability and Pricing
The best part of the Coolpad Note 6 is the offline availability. Yes, you heard it right. The device will be available in an offline store nearby you. The price of Note 6's 4GB RAM and 32GB storage variant is priced at Rs 8,999 while the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option costs Rs 9,999.
