Oppo Electronics, the sub-brand of BBK Electronics today announced the Oppo A3 smartphone in its homeland China. The smartphone was in the news for a while now and most of the specs of the A3 are similar to that of the Oppo F7's which was launched in India last month. The smartphone comes in Black, Silver, Red and Rose Gold colour options, but the major letdown for the device is it lacks a fingerprint scanner. Instead of the biometric sensor, Oppo has gone with the trendy Face Unlock feature, but the Indian variant of the Oppo F7 ships with a fingerprint scanner. Other specifications of the Oppo A3 such as the 19:9 display, single front and rear cameras are similar to those of the Oppo F7.
The design of the Oppo A3 is pretty much similar to that of the Oppo F7 with the device boasting a plastic back that looks like a glass panel. It rocks a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and 2280 x 1080 pixels resolution. It's powered by the MediaTek Helio P60 (also known as MediaTek MT6771) SoC built on the 12nm manufacturing process. Graphics in the smartphone are taken care by ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU.
The chipset is clubbed with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB. This dual-SIM smartphone comes laden with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.0.
Another difference between the Oppo F7 and Oppo A3 is the latter comes with an 8MP selfie camera, while the former uses a 25MP selfie shooter. The rear camera is the same one of the 16MP sensor. It comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Oppo A3 measures 7.8mm in thickness and weighs 159grams. This entire package is fuelled by a 3400mAh battery, and the phone offers connectivity options of 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS.
The Oppo A3 will be available in four colour options in China, and the pricing starts at 2099 Yuan (approx. Rs 21,700) for the base 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage variant. However, the device will be available at 1999 Yuan for a limited period.
