Samsung has slashed the price of its mid-range Galaxy C7 Pro smartphone in India to Rs 22,400. The smartphone is currently available on Amazon and retail stores in the country. While the price drop has already been effective in retail stores, Amazon is still selling the device at the earlier price of Rs 24,900. However, the e-commerce portal is expected to make the new price effective by the end of today. The price drop news is tweeted by Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom. For the unaware, the Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro was launched in India a year ago on April 7, 2017, at a price of Rs 27,990, but the price was reduced to Rs 24,900 a few months later.
Now the price has further been reduced to Rs 22,400, which will put the device against the likes of Oppo F7, Moto X4 and Vivo V9 in the country. The Oppo F7 is retailing at a price of Rs 21,990; the Vivo V9 costs Rs 22,990 while the Moto X4 starts at Rs 20,999 and goes all the way up to Rs 24,999 for the 6GB RAM variant. The Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro, for the asking price, offers decent specs, much better specs when we consider Samsung's premium pricing strategy.
The Galaxy C7 Pro is available in two colour options in the country: navy blue and gold; the navy blue colour option looks excellent though. Specifications wise, the device offers a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels that further extends to a pixel density of 386 PPI. Internally, it's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, which works in tandem with 4GB of RAM, Adreno 506 GPU and 64GB of internal storage. There's a microSD card slot as well for storage expansion up to 256GB.
The device runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and there's no update on when Samsung is going to roll out the Oreo update to the C7 Pro. The phone offers Always-On display and Samsung Pay feature too. Cameras in the C7 Pro include a 16MP sensor on both the front and the back. The Galaxy C7 Pro was the first Samsung smartphone with focus on selfies launched in India back then. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the front, meaning the phone has the old 16:9 aspect ratio design. It has all the sensors: accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor.
Another highlight of the smartphone is the 7mm thickness and it comes with a 3300mAh battery inside. The device weighs 172grams and offers dual-SIM, 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC.
