Samsung Galaxy S9 series will get another compact counterpart in the form of the Galaxy S9 Mini as it receives certification from Chinese TENAA. The same smartphone was also spotted on a Geekbench listing, the device with the model number SM-G8750 was alleged to be the S9 Mini. The device is powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and runs Android 8.0 Oreo. The single-core score of the handset is 1619 and multi-core score is 5955. Other details of the alleged device were not revealed in the listing. However, a new Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-G8850 listed on TENAA is said to the upcoming Galaxy S9 Mini. This has revealed the first look and some of the key specifications of the smartphone.
Just like the Galaxy S9 and S9+, the S9 Mini comes with the same glass and metal sandwich design. The front seems to come with an all screen bezel-less display, however, unlike the S9 it doesn’t seem like the edge to edge screen.
As for the rear panel, there is vertically aligned rear dual cameras on the extreme left corner. A LED sensor sits below the sensors while a fingerprint scanner is embedded into the centre above the Samsung logo. The device comes with a power button and volume rocker on the left and a dedicated Bixby button on to the right.
As for the display, the Mini comes with a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED display with rounded corners and Quad HD+ (2960 x 1440 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the S9 Mini packs a 2.8GHz octa-core processor and comes paired with 4GB and 6GB RAM variants. There will also be microSD card slot for storage expansion.
As for the cameras, the Mini is expected to offer the 12MP dual rear cameras without the much-hyped dual aperture feature. For selfies, there will be an 8MP camera on the front. The Galaxy S9 Mini is backed by a 3,000mAh battery, same as on the Galaxy S9.
While the rumours say this will be the Galaxy S9 Mini smartphone, this could also be another of the Galaxy A series smartphone exclusively meant for the Chinese market. More details can be expected in coming days as the phone is already on TENAA, meaning it is bound to be released soon.
