Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ prices in India have been slashed following the launch of latest Galaxy S9 flagship series. Samsung has informed its offline retail partners of new prices and the same is reflected on the company’s official website. The Galaxy S8 64GB version is now available for Rs 49,990 while the Galaxy S8+ with same storage starts for Rs 53,990. The 128GB model of the Galaxy S8+ is now available for purchase at Rs 64,900. However, there is no 128GB of Galaxy S8 listed on the Samsung online store. In comparison to the earlier prices, the Galaxy S8 receives Rs 8000 discount, while the S8+ gets Rs 11000 discount. The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage Galaxy S8+ is down by Rs 6000. The prices are yet to be updated on other online stores including Flipkart, Amazon which still show older prices.
As for phones itself, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ models sport 5.8-inch, and 6.2-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Displays respectively. The displays come with 1440x2960 pixel resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Both device also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in India are powered by Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC. The octa-core Samsung Exynos 8895 mobile platform features a quad-core module clocked at 2.35GHz, and another quad-core module clocked at 1.9GHz. The CPU is paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.
In terms of optics, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ feature 12MP 'Dual Pixel' rear cameras with optical image stabilisation and a f/1.7 aperture. On the front, the devices bear 8MP selfie shooter with autofocus and f/1.7 aperture. The devices pack 3000mAh and 3500mAh batteries under the hood.
The smartphones offer 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, NFC, and GPS connectivity options. Other highlights of the Galaxy S8 series include iris scanning technology, rear fingerprint scanner, wireless charging, and Samsung’s very own Bixby virtual assistant. The smartphones are also IP68 certified for dust and water resistance.
