Xiaomi has done it again. The Chinese company, which has a history of selling most number of smartphones in a single day has set a new benchmark today with the Redmi Note 5 Pro (first impressions) and Note 5 smartphones. Moments ago, Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director at Xiaomi India, tweeted that the company sold over three lakh units of Note 5 and Note 5 Pro smartphones together. And that too in less than three minutes, meaning they managed to sell one lakh units per minute. The company is also claiming that today' sale is the biggest sale ever in the history of India. Even though it sold over three lakh units, several users failed to purchase the smartphones and are complaining in social media about the units Xiaomi kept for the first sale. But this news clears all the doubts.

That said, Xiaomi is off to a flying start in its first major sale of 2018, and this keeps the company going. Last year, Xiaomi sold over 2,50,000 units of Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A smartphones during the smartphones the first sale, but the company surpassed its own feat today.

Xiaomi also confirmed that the next sale of both the phones would be on February 28. Xiaomi today sold the phones across its own Mi Homes and Mi.com portal and also on India's leading e-commerce portal Flipkart.

Also, Xiaomi did not sell the 6GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 5 Pro on Flipkart in today' sale. Maybe, the premium variant will be available in the next sale.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5 Specifications
The highlight of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the hardware inside. The phone sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display and is fuelled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset. The phone comes with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It offers dual camera setup of a 12MP primary sensor and 5MP secondary sensor at the back, along with a 20MP selfie camera. The phone runs Android Nougat based MIUI 9 and has a 4000mAh battery. Xiaomi today released a new Nightly build of MIUI 9 which added Face Unlock feature to the Note 5 Pro.

The Redmi Note 5, on the other hand, is an iterative upgrade to the Redmi Note 4, but the company has priced the device aggressively at Rs 9,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant and Rs 11,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model. It has a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display on the front and is powered by the same Snapdragon 625 chipset. The Redmi Note 5 is backed by a 4000mAh battery and offers a 12MP rear camera.
