Samsung so far used “Infinity Display” for its flagship offerings like Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 but new leak confirms it is finally coming to the mid-range Galaxy A series. Following a couple of leaks on Weibo, the Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) also appeared in a new hands-on video, which revealed the complete design of the upcoming Samsung mid-range smartphone.
Even though Samsung has yet to announce the smartphone officially, the A8+ is seen in a three-minute-plus video that shows the device from all sides. The video confirms an Infinity Display and lists all the specifications of the Galaxy A8+.
Samsung Galaxy A8+ Specs
Samsung’s new device is ultra slim with thin bezels and comes with fingerprint sensor mounted on the rear. As per the spec-sheet, the Galaxy A8+ will come with a 6-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with 1080 x 2220 resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. At the core of the device, Samsung runs Exynos 7885 2.2GHz octa-core processor coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
In optics department, the Samsung Galaxy A8+ will sport a 16MP f/1.7 aperture rear sensor with OIS. On the front is dual camera setup with a configuration of 16MP and 8MP sensors. The front camera will apparently support Portrait Mode or bokeh effect.
The Galaxy A8+ will be powered by a 3,500 mAh battery with USB Type-C port and fast charging support. The device will also feature IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The Galaxy A8+ will is expected to run Android Oreo out-of-the-box. Samsung hasn’t revealed an A8+ (2018) release date, but some rumours suggest a launch by December end.
Previous leaks have suggested Samsung is changing the moniker of their Galaxy A7 series to A8 and A8+ for their 2018 updated lineup. While Samsung’s reasons for renaming the product line remains unknown, it is possible the South Korean smartphone maker is naming the A series on lines of S flagship series. So now you have A8 and A8+ phones mid-range options while S8, S8+ are the top-of-the-line devices.
