Airtel, India’s largest network provider, and Reliance Jio, the new entrant are leaving no stone unturned to woo customers amid the ongoing tariff war in the mobile telecom sector. Since the rollout of Reliance Jio’s 4G services, telcos are updating and rolling out new prepaid plans to stay relevant in the current competitive environment.
Bharti Airtel lately announced unlimited combo plans valid for time periods ranging from one month, three months, six months and a year to counter similar plans from Jio. One such plan is Rs 1999 plan that offers six months of call and data benefits to subscribers.
With Rs 1999 prepaid available for both Airtel and Reliance networks, it is important to compare both to understand which one offers greater benefits.
Airtel 1999 Plan
Airtel's Rs 1,999 combo plan offers unlimited voice calling for both local and STD calls along with outgoing in national roaming for 180 days. The prepaid recharge offers 125GB of 3G/4G data on all handsets without any daily FUP. A total of 100 local and STD SMS per day are too available with the plan. In addition, the recharge plan offers data with free Wynk Music and Movie access.
Airtel says the Rs 1999 combo offer is valid only through November 7 to December 31 and is offering 10% cash back to its prepaid subscribers who recharge with Mastercard. This is only applicable to a debit or credit card registered with Airtel for first time and recharge is done via MyAirtel app or company website.
Reliance Jio 1999 Plan
Jio’s Rs 1999 prepaid plan matches Airtel’s plan and comes with 180 days validity. It offers 125GB 4G data along with unlimited voice calling and SMS benefits. There is no daily FUP on data usage. Voice calling to local/STD as well outgoing in national roaming is totally free, and there will be no data deduction against the calls.
Jio is too offering promotional recharge coupons for a limited period. Jio Prime customers can avail Triple cashback of up to Rs 2500 with every recharge of Rs 399 or above done from 10th Nove to 15 Dec 2017. Customers will get instant cashback of Rs 300 to their digital wallets and cash back vouchers of Rs 50 denomination that can be used for recharges of Rs. 309 & above plans or Rs. 91 & above data add-ons, via MyJio app.
On the face of it, both Airtel and Jio are offering similar packs so there isn’t much to compare between the two. Both telcos are also offering promotional offers upon the recharge, and they both offer digital content services such as Live TV, free unlimited music service, etc. But Jio is still a favourite among many for its vast LTE coverage across the country, and yes, Airtel also has its strong footprint spread across the country.
It's good to see Airtel matching up with Reliance Jio when it comes to tariff plans because the latter was a leader a few months ago in the tariff plans department. Which operator will you pick between the two? Let us know by commenting below.
