HMD Global, the new home of Nokia mobiles today held a global launch in New Delhi, India. At the event, the company has announced the entry-level Nokia 2 smartphone which comes in three colour options- Copper Black, Period Black, and Period White.
Like the flagship smartphone Nokia 8, the Nokia 2 is also built out of single block of 6000 Series Aluminium, which makes the device look gorgeous. As spotted in the AnTuTu benchmark a couple of days ago, the Nokia 2 is powered by the entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 Mobile Platform, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
The Nokia 2 flaunts a 5-inch HD IPS display. The Snapdragon 212 Mobile Platform is a quad-core chipset. Graphics in the Nokia 2 will be taken care by the Adreno 304 GPU. Connectivity options in the Nokia 2 include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS.
This dual-SIM smartphone comes laden with stock Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. The Nokia 2 also comes with Google Assistant baked in. HMD Global also promised Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade to the Nokia 2 very soon.
The smartphone is fuelled with a 4100mAh battery with Qualcomm's QuickCharge 2.0 technology. Cameras in the Nokia 2 include a 5MP front-facing camera and a 8MP rear camera.
HMD has priced the Nokia 2 at Euro 99 starting mid-November. The Indian price of the smartphone is yet to be revealed by the company.
Going by the pricing, the Nokia 2 competes with the Xiaomi Redmi 4 smartphone in the country.
