Google is all set to announce the next iteration of its Pixel lineup and the news has us all wishing for better specs and nifty new features. However, going by the latest rumours, the new Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL won’t be any different from the 2016 Pixel in the design department. Google pixel was undoubtedly one of the best smartphones of 2016 and this year’s Pixel 2 has great expectations even before its launch on October 4.
Less than ten days away from the big reveal, here is a list of all the features we want the new Pixel 2 smartphones to feature.
Bezel-less Display
The biggest trend of 2017 is bezel-less displays and word on the rumour-mill is that the Pixel 2 lineup will come with the bezel-less design. Although this is likely to be restricted to the Pixel 2 XL while the Pixel 2 might sport the older Pixel’s design. Based on the leaks so far, the Pixel 2 is expected to come with a 4.97-inch Full-HD display while the larger Pixel 2 XL is expected to sport a 6-inch Quad-HD display.
Water Resistance
The water-resistance feature has been around the block for quite some time now and it was surprising when Google skipped this one with the original Pixel smartphone. An IP68 rating for water-resistance is something we hope to see this time around in the Pixel 2 lineup and what more, several leaked renders and rumours suggest the same.
Dual-Camera
At this point in time, the dual-camera setup has become a necessary feature in flagship smartphones such as Huawei, LG, OnePlus, and Samsung flagship devices. Meanwhile, there is no word about Google bringing this feature to the new Pixel 2 devices. But if we were to make a guess, it is likely that the bigger Pixel 2 XL device might pack dual rear cameras and we sure wouldn’t mind seeing the feature in Pixel 2 as well.
Audio Jack
After Apple faced backlash for its removal of the 3.5m headphone jack, Google seems to be next in line to receive criticism for a similar move. If rumours are to be believed, Google is planning on removing the 3.5m headphone jack in the Pixel 2 lineup and a lot of us are not thrilled about it. Only time will tell if the rumour is indeed true and if so, how the audience receives it.
Better Design
If you were expecting a change in the looks of the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL, you are in for some bad news. Recent rumours and leaked renders that showed the phones in final stages revealed that both the Pixel 2 devices share an uncanny resemblance to their previous counterparts and the change in design has been very less to none based on the images. The only change one might spot is the glass panel that looks to have shrunk down to the top while the rest of the design remains same.
This list of features expected in the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is based on rumours and is mostly wishful thinking on our part. Since the leaks surrounding the Pixel 2 smartphones have been scarce, we have to wait until its launch on October 4, to know its full length of specs and features.
