At a special event last month, Panasonic India has stated that the company will launch 15 smartphones in just 45 days. It also stated that all these smartphones will be priced between Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 15,000. The company today announced a new phone called Panasonic P9 which caters to the entry-level segment.
The device is priced at Rs. 6,290 and will be available in major retail stores and Panasonic exclusive stores in the country. The highlight of the Panasonic P9 is it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and comes with all the stock Nougat features such as Quick Reply, Multi-Window mode, etc. Panasonic highlights the Quick App Switcher mode in the smartphone.
The device will be available in two hues- Champagne Gold and Black. Pankaj Rana, Business Head Mobility Division at Panasonic India, said: "We at Panasonic believe in a great combination of style and design so that it matches the user's elegance. P9 is equipped with all that you need to capture the world around you flawlessly and keeps everything you love. Targeted towards consumers who are always on the go, look for durability in the display screen and want a smooth multitasking experience with the latest Android Nougat 7.0."
Speaking about the specifications of the smartphone, the Panasonic P9 comes with a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels and even has a 2.5D curved glass on top. Under the hood, there is a MediaTek MT6737M SoC, coupled with just 1GB of RAM. It' sad to see Panasonic offering just 1GB of RAM at Rs. 6,290 because there are smartphones with 2GB of RAM below Rs. 5,000.
Internal storage on the device is 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card. The device has an 8MP primary camera with a f/2.0 aperture, and a 5MP front-facing camera adores the front with f/2.4 aperture.
Connectivity options in the Panasonic P9 include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The device comes with a micro USB port and weighs in at 144 grams. The biggest let down for the smartphone is the battery capacity of 2210mAh.
