Remember the Blackberry KEYone smartphone launched at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona earlier this year? If you don't, then here's an exciting news because the smartphone might debut in India on August 1. Blackberry has sent out media invites for an event to be held on August 1, and the invite carries a slogan “DO MORE. DIFFERENT.”
The KEYone was one of the exciting smartphones to look out for because it's the last smartphone from the house of Blackberry before TCL Communications taking the reigns. In India though, Optiemus, a Noida-based manufacturing company will make the Blackberry smartphones.
Unlike the older Blackberry smartphones which featured high-end, the KEYone features mid-range specifications. The KEYone comes with 4.5-inch display, carrying a resolution of 1,620 x 1,080 pixels followed by a QWERTY keypad, same as previous Blackberry smartphones such as Blackberry Priv. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 technology.
Internally, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, mated with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. However, numerous reports claim that the Indian version of the phone will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There's a microSD card slot as well for storage expansion up to 256GB.
The highlight of the Blackberry KEYone is the 12MP rear camera, same as the Google Pixel' sensor. However, it won't achieve the results as the Google Pixel because of the software processing. The device comes with an 8MP front-facing camera.
The smartphone comes with connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C port, GPS, and NFC. The interesting aspect of the KEYone is the fingerprint sensor placement because it's embedded into the space button of the QWERTY keypad.
The KEYone comes with a 3505mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, and it runs Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone comes in a single black coloured option.
At the moment, the price of the phone is a mystery, but going by the previous pricing strategy of the Blackberry, the KEYone may launch for a steep price. And it's expected to be Rs. 39,999 or maybe even a higher price is heavily expected.
