Ookla, the speed test global leader today rated the Tata Docomo Wi-Fi at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi as the fourth fastest amongst the top ten airports in Asia. Ookla determines the speed using its speed test application. The company analysed the speeds of free airport Wi-Fi during the period of March-May 2017.

Commenting on Ookla speed test report, Mr Natraj Akella, Vice President, Wi-Fi services, Tata Docomo, said “We are privileged that our Wi-Fi services at IGI is rated as the fourth fastest amongst the top ten airports in the Asian Market. This recognition drives us to do more, anticipate our customers’ requirements earlier and better. For Tata Docomo, Public Wi-Fi access is a major step towards digitisation and an earnest endeavour for the evolving high-speed internet access infrastructure development in the country and aim to empower our customers with best-in-class real-time connectivity solutions.”

Tata Docomo’s Free Wi-Fi at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) has recorded an average download speed of 15.95 Mbps and is rated as the fourth fastest ahead of Singapore's Changi Airport, Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport and Hong Kong International Airport. The first three ranks have gone to Dubai International, Seoul’s Incheon International and Tokyo Haneda Airport.

Supported by the company’s wholly-owned national fibre backbone, Tata Docomo is India’s leading provider of Wi-Fi services in India, delivering complete Wi-Fi connectivity to a number of public spaces, commercial premises including country’s leading hotels, premium retail cafe chains and India’s top airports. Tata DoCoMo’s Wi-Fi provisioning has also assisted in connecting some of India’s most emblematic public spaces.

In addition to infrastructure, Tata Docomo delivers support services, security and a range of revenue models and value-added services to support these Wi-Fi zones. Earlier this year, Ookla rated Bharti Airtel as India's fastest network, which ultimately came under a scanner because telecom regulator TRAI's data always rated Reliance Jio as the fastest network of India with an average download speed of over 15 Mbps.
