Just as we expected, Motorola has officially unveiled the budget Moto C smartphone in India. With the Moto C, the company is foraying to the offline market. Priced at Rs. 5,999, the device will be available across all the major offline stores in the country. Just a two days ago, we reported that the phone would be soon launched in India for Rs. 6,499, but Motorola decided to launch it for even lower price.

However, the phone is still an overpriced one considering the specs it has under-the-hood. The device will be available in two colour options- Pearl White and Starry Black. To recall, Motorola launched both the Moto C and Moto C Plus last month, and the launch date of Moto C Plus is not yet revealed.

Internationally, the Moto C was launched in two variants- one with 3G support and the other one with 4G support. In India though, only the 4G enabled variant has been launched. Let's take a look at the specifications of the phone.

Design
The Moto C comes with the Motorola' signature design language, micro-textured back cover. The device has a Moto dimple at the rear side, placed below the camera module, which adds decent feel while holding the phone in hand.

The device measures 145.5 x 73.6 mm x 9 mm and weighs 154 grams. The device has hardware capacitive buttons.

Display
The Motorola Moto C flaunts a 5-inch display, carrying a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels (FWVGA). The display doesn't have any 2.5D curved glass on top, and Motorola did not mention any protective layer as well on the phone.

Processor, RAM, and Storage
The device is powered by the MediaTek MT6737M SoC with a 1.1GHz quad-core CPU. This is a 64-bit processor paired with a Mali-T720 GPU. There's a mere 1GB of RAM in the phone along with 16GB of internal storage.

The memory in the phone is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. The international variant of the phone comes with just 1GB of internal storage, but Motorola decided to bump it to 16GB.

Connectivity
The highlight of the Moto C is the support for 4G LTE and VoLTE. Other basic connectivity options in the phone include WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, dual-SIM, GPS, and USB OTG.

Cameras
The Moto C rocks a 5MP autofocus rear camera with a LED flash. The rear camera is capable of recording 720p videos. Further, there's a 2MP front-facing camera which also has support for LED flash.

Software and Battery
Another highlight in the Moto C is the software because it ships with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. The user interface is a near stock Android one with Motorola's touches here and there.

The phone has a small 2350mAh battery, which is a removable one.

Pricing and Rivals
The Motorola Moto C will be available for Rs. 5,999 in India across all the major offline stores. For the asking price, the device heads against the Xiaomi Redmi 4A, which is also sold in offline channels and the Xiaomi Mi Home in Bangalore for Rs. 5,999. Also, Xiaomi is planning to open a few more Mi Homes in other major cities of the country.

Speaking on the announcement, Sudhin Mathur, Managing Director, Motorola Mobility India and Country Head, Lenovo Mobile Biz Group, said, “According to the reports fewer people are expected to upgrade to smartphones because of concerns over price, need and ability to use. We see this as a huge opportunity for a brand like us to initiate the smartphone journey for feature phone users. At Motorola, we focus on mobility through device innovation, user-centric design and smart connectivity to offer the best possible smartphone experience to the consumers.”
