Lenovo-owned Motorola is teasing their latest budget smartphone, the Moto G5 in India as launching soon. To recall, Motorola launched the Moto G5 along with Moto G5 Plus last month at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona, Spain.
Recently, the company pulled the wraps of the Moto G5 Plus in India starting at a price tag of Rs. 14,999. And now, the Moto G5 will be launched in India with a smaller price tag. All said, the Moto G5 will go against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 3s and Lenovo K6 Power in India as they are currently the best selling smartphones in the sub-Rs. 10,000 price bracket.
As far as the specifications go, we saw the Moto G4 coming with almost similar specs of the Moto G4 Plus, sans the fingerprint sensor and downgraded camera. But, that isn't the case with G5 series as the Moto G5 is aimed at taking on entry-level phones carrying entry-level specifications, whereas the Moto G5 Plus is targeted at ruling the mid-range segment.
The Moto G5 features a 5-inch Full HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset, which is an octa-core chip clocked at 1.4GHz. Aided with the chipset is 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/3GB storage. Right now, there are no details on which variant will make it to India, or maybe Lenovo might launch two variants, same as the G5 Plus. The phone also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.
Interestingly, the Moto G5 comes with a fingerprint sensor integrated into its home button, that can also be tuned to perform several actions. The Moto G5 features a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, and PDAF along with a 5MP front-facing camera that can also capture wide-angle shots.
The phone boots Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and comes armed with a 2800mAh battery that is rated to deliver a complete day battery life. The phone also has fast charging capabilities.
Currently, there are no details regarding the pricing of the phone, but we're expecting it to be priced under Rs. 10,000 to compete with the rivals
