After facing a lot of criticism from every corner of the world, the Facebook-owned company, WhatsApp officially confirmed that they are bringing back the old-age, and much-loved 'Status' feature. To recall, WhatsApp replaced the eight-year-old status feature with brand new stories type of feature, keeping the name as 'Status' itself, a couple of weeks ago.

However, everything did not go well as expected by the company as users started complaining about the removal of the old status feature. It's not like users did not like the new Status feature, but people missed the old Status feature. The old Status feature can be accessed by visiting the setting page, and users can set a text or smileys as their status.

In the newly introduced stories like status feature, users can post images to let others know their current mood, and that's a rip-off of Instagram Stories and Snap Stories. And now, WhatsApp has confirmed that they are bringing back the feature after several people across the globe asking to bring back the same.

WhatsApp upheld the news to TechCrunch and the report claims as follows: “We heard from our users that people missed the ability to set a persistent text-only update in their profile, so we’ve integrated this feature into the ‘About’ section in profile settings. Now, the update will appear next to profile names anytime you view contacts, such as when creating a new chat or looking at Group info. At the same time, we’re continuing to build on the new Status feature that gives people fun and engaging ways to share photos, videos and GIFs with their friends and family throughout their day.”

That said, the feature will be made available for all the Android users across the globe next week and the iOS application will also be updated in coming days. For the uninitiated, this feature is already live in the WhatsApp Android Beta app and the company will soon make it live for all users. Furthermore, WhatsApp parent company, Facebook has reportedly rolled the same 'Stories' feature to Facebook app as well and some users have already started using the new 'Facebook Stories' feature in the latest Facebook app version.
