LG G6 Comes with a Six Months Older Snapdragon 821 SoC and 5.7-inch QHD+ Display

South Korean smartphone giant, LG, after heavily teasing their flagship smartphone, the LG G6 from the last few weeks finally pulled the wraps at the MWC 2017. The official specs of the smartphone are in-line with all the leaks and rumors surfaced online.

Ahead of its official launch, chipmaker, Qualcomm posted some four images of the smartphone teasing the display of the LG G6. One of the significant difference with the G6, when compared to its predecessor LG G5 is that the lack of modularity. The LG G6 comes with a 5.7-inch QHD+ display with an unusual resolution of 1440x2880 pixels with an aspect ratio of 18:9, that further extends to a pixel density of 564 PPI. Also, the display has support for HDR mode and Dolby Vision with an astonishing screen-to-body ratio of 80 percent.

The LG G6 comes with the same unimetal body design as its predecessor. Under0-the-hood, the G6 is powered by the quad-core Snapdragon 821 SoC, coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The storage can be further expandable up to 2TB via a dedicated microSD card slot. The smartphone is equipped with a dedicated 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, same as the one seen on the LG V20.

Optics-wise, the LG G6 retains the same dual camera module as its predecessor, LG G5, but comes with an upgraded camera sensor. There's a 13MP wide angle camera with f/2.4 aperture and another 13MP camera, which acts as a standard camera with support for Optical Image Stabilisation, f/1.8 aperture, and 71-degree field-of-view. Up front, the G6 has a 5MP camera, which is also a wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and 100-degree field-of-view.

The phone comes with various sensors including the accelerometer, ambient light sensor, fingerprint sensor at the rear of the phone, gyro sensor, and proximity sensor. The G6 is IP68 certified which means that you can submerge the phone under water for 30 minutes and the rating also saves the device from dust.

The phone also comes with Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, USB Type-C port. The phone comes with a bumped up 3300mAh battery that also has support for QuickCharge 3.0. The phone weighs 163 grams and measures 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9mm.

Out-of-the-box, the device runs Android 7.0 Nougat with LG's in-house LG UX 6.0 with several tweaks and optimisations. Moreover, the G6 is the first non-Pixel phone to come with Google Assistant preloaded. The phone will be made available in three colour options: Ice Platinum, Mystic White, and Astro Black.
