Jio Music App: Will it be a Threat to Other Music Streaming Services?

Follow Us

Because of the Reliance Jio, the whole Indian telecom sector has undergone some significant changes. Apart from just being a telecom operator, Jio also has some incredible digital media apps under its belt.

One among them is the ‘JioMusic’ app, which is aimed to take on the rivals such as Saavn, Bharti Airtel’s Wynk Music, and Gaana. And to gain the upper hand from its competitors, the company has added some nifty features to the JioMusic app.

Streaming music online has come a long way in the Indian market and that too in no time. Not so long ago, major players such as Apple, Google also launched their music streaming service in India. However, one new entrant which is vying to take on all the existing streaming services in RJIL’s JioMusic app.

The JioMusic app was formerly known as ‘JioBeats’ in its preview stages. In its beta stage itself, the application consisted of a large number of music content to stream online and the company kept on increasing the music catalog.

Key Features of JioMusic

To sweeten the deal, the application offers music content in 20 regional languages of India. It even has a Radio feature, which is also present in other music streaming apps as well. Other usual features include the free download of music all over the app.

Downsides of JioMusic

JioMusic’s direct competitor is the Bharti Airtel’s Wynk music, which is also regarded as India’s best music streaming app. The major letdown with the JioMusic app is that only the users with a Jio 4G SIM card are eligible to use this service. That clearly is not the case with Airtel’s Wynk app as it allows every user to log into the application.

Can it Replace the Rivals?

Yes, Reliance Jio’s principal aim is to become a pioneer in the Indian telecom sector. The company is aggressively promoting the JioMusic app in India.

Another rival to the JioMusic is the popular Saavn app, but if you’re interested in using that app, you have to pay some certain amount to get a Pro subscription. Although, the music streaming is free, for making a track offline, you need to get the Pro membership.

Major music streaming services such as the Google Play Music, Apple Music, Gaana, etc. does charge some amount to avail their services.

As of now, things are going well for the JioMusic app. Because JioMusic is still a new entrant and gets the job done most of the time, we're sure that it will give other streaming apps run for their money.
