Microsoft has launched its most entry-level Windows 10-powered smartphone in India today. The Microsoft Lumia 550, which was showcased along with the Microsoft Lumia 950 and the Microsoft Lumia 950XL, will be available in the country for Rs 9,399. Unlike the single-SIM variant of the device that was showcased at Microsoft's international event, the Lumia 550 that's launched in India has a dual-SIM card slot.

Microsoft Lumia 550

Microsoft Lumia 550 Specifications

  • Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile operating system with Cortana and Microsoft Office apps
  • 4.7-inch LCD display, 1280 x 720 pixels (315 ppi), Enhanced Outdoor Readability
  • 5-megapixel primary camera, Autofocus, LED flash, ƒ/2.4 aperture, and 720p HD video recording
  • 2-megapixel secondary camera, ƒ/2.8 aperture, and 480p video recording
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 210, 1.1 GHz quad-core CPU, and 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage and microSD card slot (upto 200GB)
  • Dual-SIM, 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1 + LE, GPS (with A-GPS and GLONASS), FM Radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and microUSB v2.0 port
  • 2,100 mAh removable battery, 136.1 x 67.8 x 9.9 mm; 141.9 grams

As you can see in the specs list, the Lumia 550 Dual SIM features a 4.7-inch HD display, something that's good for people who like compact smartphones. It also comes with a 5-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel secondary camera. The Snapdragon 210 along with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage do that processing magic. There's a microSD card slot, which can be used to expand the storage capacity.

There's 2,100 mAh removable battery. In terms of connectivity, there's dual-SIM card slot along with 4G LTE connectivity. However, to my surprise, there's no support for Band 40 (2300 MHz), which is a bummer. The Microsoft Lumia 550 Dual SIM only supports Band 3 (1800 MHz) and Band 20 (800 MHz) LTE bands. So, I would ask readers to choose carefully even if you are interested in this device.
