Amazon announces super affordable Fire tablet, at a starting price of $50

Amazon’s much talked about new Fire tablet has finally gone official today. The device is touted by the company to be much more durable and heavy-duty than the latest iPad Air, and more powerful in terms of processing than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite.

The new Fire tablet comes with a 7-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1024 × 600 pixels, and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The tablet runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with Amazon’s in-house Fire ‘Bellini’ OS 5 on top. There is 8GB (5GB usable) of internal storage onboard, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. In the imaging department, the tablet sports a 2-megapixel primary camera with 720p video recording capability, along with a VGA front-facing camera.

Moreover, Amazon is offering an “Underground app store”, which provides over $10,000 worth of apps, games, extra-lives purchasable in games, unlocked levels, and additional packs, and much more. The new Fire tablet will be available in Black color variant, for a price of $50 (Rs. 3,300 approx.) Amazon is also running an offer, it is giving one unit free on purchase of five tablets (5+1). The giveaway unit will be eligible for an offer by using a code “FIRE6PACK”. As of now, the tablet is available in the U.S., but there are chances that Amazon might bring it to other regions too. The shipping will commence on September 30th.
