If a report published by the Economic Times is to be believed, then we can soon see Microsoft manufacturing devices in India with Foxconn. Microsoft in collaboration with Foxconn could get its smartphones manufactured in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

Microsoft Lumia 535 Dual SIM 02The report also suggests that Foxconn might initially start manufacturing two variants of Windows Phone in India. Also, Foxconn’s chairman, Terry Gou, stated on his visit to India that the company has plans to invest around $2 billion in the country, in order to set up 10-12 factories in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Although rumors are suggesting this move to be confirmed, but Microsoft has not officially approached Foxconn yet, so it all should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Some reports also surfaced last month, which stated that Foxconn is going to manufacture mobiles for Xiaomi in Andhra Pradesh. The company is also planning to hire around 10,000 employees in the area to get started with an investment of $2 billions (approximately Rs. 12,700 crores) in a period of next five years. Recently, many manufacturers such as Sony, Samsung, Lenovo, LG, HTC, and many more have announced their plans regarding setting up a manufacturing unit in India and if it all reaches expected input, then India might just become the second largest smartphone market by the year 2017.
