Samsung announces Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 smartphones in India

At an event held at Mumbai today, Samsung has launched four new smartphones in India; the Galaxy A3, the Galaxy A5, the Galaxy E5 and the Galaxy E7. The Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 were launched in select markets sometime ago, but the Galaxy E5 and the Galaxy E7 are the brand new Android smartphones by Samsung. All four smartphones target the mid-range segment of the market.

Throwing some light on the Samsung Galaxy A3 and the Samsung Galaxy A5 smartphones first, both the phones are crafted in a metal frame like Galaxy Alpha and are powered by 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor. The devices feature Super AMOLED display, Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz UI, 5-megapixel front shooter, and 16GB of internal storage with microSD card slot for further expansion.

The Galaxy A3 comes with a 4.5-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera and 1,900mAh battery. On the other hand, the Galaxy A5 sports a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera and 2300mAh battery.

Now talking about the Galaxy E5 and E7, both the smartphones run Android 4.4 KitKat and are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and 16GB of internal storage with microSD card slot for further expansion. The Galaxy E5 comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.5GB of RAM, and 2,400mAh battery. On the contrary, the Galaxy E7 sports a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 13-megapixel rear camera, 2GB of RAM, and 2,950mAh battery.

  • 5MP front-facing camera
  • Dual-SIM, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS/ GLONASS

  • Dimensions: 151.3 x 77.2 x 7.3mm

At the event, Samsung said that Galaxy A3 will be priced at Rs 20,500, Galaxy A5 for Rs 25,500, Galaxy E5 for Rs 19,300 and Galaxy E7 for Rs 23,000 across India. The A-series smartphones will go on sale from next week and the E-series will be available from January 20. All these smartphones are set to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the near future. The difference between the Galaxy A series and Galaxy E series of smartphones from Samsung is that the former feature 4G LTE connectivity, while the latter don't.

Samsung has also announced special data offers for the Galaxy A-series (applicable for Airtel users only) and Galaxy E-series (applicable for Vodafone users).
