MTS India Rolled out Online Shopping Website, Launches MTS MiFi USB Dongle

Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd has forayed into online business as it announced the launch of its new online shopping site - mtsindia.in/shopmts-online-store
The website is in a very primary stage and only two smartphones - Duet and Mtag 281 and some dongles are available for sale. On the website there are also links for prepaid recharge and postpaid bill payment.

mts-mifiMTS also introduced a new device - MTS Mifi USB dongle with WiFi Hotspot support. The device powered by Qualcomm MDM6600 chipset supports upto 14.7Mbps/5.4Mbps bandwidth over EVDO Rev.B 800/1900 MHz and offer WiFi connectivity to upto 5 devices. This device is available for Rs 2299. It is available for sale in Rajasthan, Delhi, Tamilnadu & Karnataka and pre-order in Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Kolkata & West Bengal.

The best part is you can directly pay upfront using your credit cards, debit cards or net banking or ask for cash-on-delivery or pick it up at nearest MTS Store. The product will be delivered to a person within 5 Days at his Residence or the nearest MTS Store. The services are currently available in Delhi Telecom circle and soon to be rolled out in other circles.

Certainly this effort from MTS India is applauding, but the portfolio is not so attractive. MTS has better smartphones which are not listed. Also MTS is always rolling out CDMA/EVDO smartphones with outdated Android version which MUST keep the youth away. With 3G tariff falling (Reliance's offer to enjoy 3G at 2G price) I don't think MTS is offering best tariff in the market to attract customers to buy their dongles any more.
