Uninor has today announced that all its subscribers from Maharashtra and Goa will be able to use their Uninor connections without any roaming charges when travelling to Mumbai.
Uninor which has failed to get spectrum and licenses for Mumbai circle and closed its opeartions now entered into an agreement with Tata DoCoMo to ensure that no roaming charges are passed on to Uninor subscribers when they use their SIMs in Mumbai.
Additionally, Uninor has also announced a further strengthening of its network in Maharashtra with an additional 300 new network sites.
The company was earlier forced to close down its service in Mumbai in compliance to the Supreme Court order on February 15, directing an immediate network closure.
As a result of this tie-up, Uninor subscribers from Maharashtra and Goa will automatically shift to the Tata DoCoMo network while in Mumbai. However, no roaming charges will apply when a Uninor Maharashtra and Goa subscriber uses his or her phone in Mumbai. All incoming calls will be free, as before. All outgoing calls, whether local or STD will be at the standard 1paisa per second.
The company expects this decision to benefit all subscribers from Maharashtra and Goa, and particularly in Bhiwandi, Vasai, Ulhasnagar, Badlapur, Nalasopara, Virar, Khopoli, Karjat, Rasaiyani and adjoining regions, who travel frequently to Mumbai and have been concerned about additional roaming charges when using their Uninor SIM in Mumbai.
