The flagship OnePlus device, the OnePlus 7 Pro was till now running on the Android Q Developer Preview 3. To recall, the device is one of the few smartphones out in the market to be running this build of Android. However, as per a new report, the OnePlus 7 Pro has started receiving the Android Q Developer Preview 4 build. As for the other OnePlus devices like the OnePlus 7, the OnePlus 6T, and the OnePlus 6, all are running the previous version of Android Q, which is the Developer Preview 3. It is expected that the Developer Preview 4 for these devices will be pushed in the coming days. Like you would expect, with the arrival of the Android Q Developer Preview 4, the OnePlus 7 Pro gets new features and a handful of other improvements.

OnePlus 7 Pro Android Q Developer Preview 4 Details

In case you are a OnePlus 7 Pro user, and you are currently running the Developer Preview 3, then you will be able to install the update for Developer Preview 4. It is worth noting that unlike the Open Beta or the stable updates which come for OnePlus devices, the Developer Preview update is something that the users will have to install manually. There is also the fact that there are a lot of technicalities involved with the installation of the Developer Preview because as the name indicates it is mostly meant for developers and for the users who have the technical knowhow. You can also say that the Developer Previews are unstable similar to Beta builds, and sometimes even more.

Changes in New Developer Preview 4

The changelog about this new Developer Preview 4 does not mention a lot, and it just states that the Android Q update brings improvements to some features and it also mentions the issues that the users might face after installing the update. As we mentioned above, the Developer Previews are unstable build and might cause undesired behaviour on your phone, so they are only recommended for the people who are technically adept in dealing with these builds. One of the major issues with the Developer Preview 4 of Android Q is that it won’t support Google Pay. Users won’t be able to use Google Pay app on this version so if the service is important to you, then we would not recommend installing the update on your OnePlus 7 Pro device.

Focus Tracking, New Zen Mode and Other Features

Some of the new features which come with the Developer Preview 4 include battery percentage indicator on the top left side, next to the clock, and the Digital Wellbeing feature. There is also the option of setting up new gestures during the initial set up of the phone. The new Developer Preview also does away with the two-button navigation option. This new update also brings a focus tracking feature on the phone, thus updating the camera app as well. Lastly, there is a change to the zen mode, which now allows the users to set a timer for up to 60 minutes. Previously, the timer could only be set for 20 minutes.
