HMD Global is on a roll. The Finland based smartphone maker is leaving no stone unturned to take on Xiaomi in India. HMD recently launched a couple of smartphones in India including the Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus, and all of them can be called one of the best looking phones at their respective price tags. Meanwhile, Xiaomi is said to be preparing to launch the successor to the Redmi Note 5 Pro aka the Redmi Note 6 Pro in India very soon. With the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Xiaomi is expected to aim towards competing with the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus is available in India for Rs 15,999, in comparison, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is said to be priced around Rs 13,999. The Redmi Note 6 Pro tricks most of the boxes when it comes to the hardware inside. The Nokia 6.1 Plus, on the other hand, is a looker. In fact, the Nokia phone is one of the best-looking smartphones available under Rs 15,000 price tag in India. The question now is, will the Nokia phone able to compete with the upcoming Xiaomi phone in India and come out as the winner, or the glory days for 6.1 Plus over? Let’s find out.

The Price Will Be the Big Factor

Xiaomi often says that all its products are launched with honest pricing. Having said that, we would expect, and even the rumours claim so, the Redmi Note 6 Pro to be priced around Rs 13,999, which in comparison is lower than the Nokia phone. The Nokia 6.1 Plus currently retails at Rs 15,999 in India. To recall, Xiaomi has already launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro in China back in September this year. In China, the phone comes in 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model, but according to rumours, in India Xiaomi is expected to bring 3GB RAM with 32GB storage model. The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which is further expandable via microSD card.

Dual Selfie Camera Is a Winning Point

Both the Nokia as well as Xiaomi phone includes a notch above the display. But, interesting the Redmi Note 6 Pro consists of two cameras on the notch, while the Nokia 6.1 Plus sports only one. This is one of the few areas where the Redmi Note 6 Pro will prove to be a clear winner. Battery is one of the most important factors one look out for in a smartphone, and in this regard, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is yet again the winner compared to the Nokia 6.1 Plus. In China, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is backed by a massive 4000mAh battery setup, which is much bigger than the Nokia phone. The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes packed with a 3060mAh battery.

Colour Variants

In China, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro in four variants including black, pink, blue and red. The Nokia 6.1 Plus, on the other hand, comes in the usual black, white and blue colours only.

Other Factors

Before talking about the differences, here’s a common factor the two phones. The processor. Both the Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Redmi Note 5 Pro are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 chipset. The Nokia phone is paired with 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage, while the Xiaomi phone is expected to come in various configurations- 3GB+32GB, 4GB+64GB and like its predecessor, it might arrive in a 6GB+64GB storage model too.

As far as the front camera setup is concerned, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is definitely a clear winner. But, on the rear panel, the Nokia 6.1 Plus boasts a powerful camera setup. The Nokia 6.1 Plus consists of a dual camera setup on the back with a 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The Redmi Note 6 Pro also comes with a dual camera setup. It includes a primary sensor of 12MP and a secondary sensor of 5MP for depth sensing.
