Vodafone Rs 99 Voice Only Prepaid Plan: Pros and Cons

Follow Us

Vodafone has launched a Rs 99 voice only prepaid plan in which it is offering unlimited voice calling, including roaming for 28 days straight. Under this plan, Vodafone won’t be combining the data or SMS benefits and will only ship the plain-old calling benefits. Joining the league of other telecom operators Vodafone has also finally launched a budget-oriented voice-only plan which would target more fundamental users who would rather not spend extra bucks on data-based offerings. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have also launched their plans in this segment which also ship a little bit of data, combined with SMS benefits and of course the free voice calling for the different or same validity period. However, the new Rs 99 voice only prepaid plan by Vodafone has its own pros and cons, so stick around to check what the Vodafone Rs 99 voice-only prepaid offers and what it misses out.

Pros of Vodafone Rs 99 Voice Only Plan

The most significant plus point of the Rs 99 voice only plan by Vodafone is its longer validity. Although other telcos have also expanded their portfolio by including voice only plans under Rs 100, they do not come with longer validity. With the validity of 28 days in this plan, Vodafone will now be better able to compete with similarly priced plans from Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.

Cons of Vodafone Rs 99 Voice Only Plan

One of the major drawbacks of this plan is that Vodafone has only availed this new offering in its 4G circles, and given that right now Vodafone’s 4G network remains limited to tier 1 cities only, the telco is likely to have a shrunken base for this plan. There is also a possibility that the telco might limit the calling benefits to 1,000 minutes a week and 250 minutes a day. Although there hasn’t been any official clarification about the same, however, if the telco does so then it might be a cause of concern since other carriers like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel offer plans with genuinely unlimited calling.

However, making a parallel comparison of this plan against the plans by Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel reveals that the Rs 99 voice only plans by Vodafone loses out to the other offerings. The Rs 98 plan by Reliance Jio offers unlimited local, STD and roaming calls along with 2GB data and 300 SMSes for the entire validity period of 28 days. Similarly, the Rs 99 prepaid plan by Airtel bundles genuinely unlimited calling, 2GB 2G/3G/4G data with 100SMSes for 28 days. Thus the plans by Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel surpass the Rs 99 voice only plan by Vodafone.
