Nokia 6.1 Plus With Glass Back and Dual Rear Cameras Launched in India at Rs 15,999

HMD Global has introduced its latest smartphone in the Indian market- the Nokia 6.1 Plus. The 6.1 Plus is an upgraded version of the Nokia 6.1 and it's the third smartphone in India to launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, after the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. The Nokia 6.1 Plus sports a notched display on the front, comes in a single variant with 4GB of RAM & 64GB of Internal storage, rocks dual cameras on the rear, and yes, it's also an Android One smartphone like the other Nokia devices released till date. The Nokia 6.1 Plus goes against the likes of Xiaomi Mi A2, and of course, it competes with the two devices mentioned above.

Nokia 6.1 Plus Specifications and Features

The Nokia 6.1 Plus rocks a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display on the front which has an aspect ratio of 19:9, meaning it's a smartphone with display notch. The phone has a glass back, and both the display and rear panel are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. Under the hood, the smartphone has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of Internal storage. The phone also has a hybrid card slot, allowing users to either use two nano SIM cards or a nano-SIM card and microSD card for storage expansion.

Notably, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is the first smartphone from HMD to sport dual rear cameras under Rs 20,000. It rocks a primary 16MP shooter on the rear, paired with a 5MP secondary depth sensor. Frontal, there's a 16MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

As for the connectivity options, the Nokia 6.1 Plus offers Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a USB Type-C port. The phone is armed with a 3060mAh battery with fast charging support. Being an Android One handset, the 6.1 Plus boots Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Android 9 Pie update around the corner.

Nokia 6.1 Plus Pricing and Availability

For selling the Nokia 6.1 Plus, HMD Global has partnered with e-commerce portal Flipkart. The phone has been priced at Rs 15,999 for the Indian market. It can also be purchased on Nokia Online Store. Sales will begin on August 30 and pre-orders will begin later today.

Nokia 6.1 Plus Competitors in India

The Nokia 6.1 Plus goes against the newly launched Xiaomi Mi A2 in India which is also an Android One smartphone. The Mi A2 sports the faster Snapdragon 660 chipset and features much superior camera hardware. Other competitors of the Nokia 6.1 Plus in India are the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 because both these phones come with the same Snapdragon 636 chipset. The Note 5 Pro is available at a starting price of Rs 14,999, whereas the Max Pro M1 can be picked at a price of Rs 10,999.
