Huawei is finally working on the successor to the Kirin 659 SoC as a new smartphone going by moniker Huawei Nova 3 with Kirin 710 SoC has now passed Chinese regulatory portal, TENAA. Huawei already teased the smartphone on Weibo microblogging portal last week and going by a new presentation slide leak, the smartphone will go official in China on July 18, 2018. The TENAA listing revealed the key specifications of the handset which clearly highlights the Nova 3 will be an upgraded version of the Huawei P20 Lite.
Aforesaid, the Huawei Nova 3 will be the first handset to feature the all-new Kirin 710 SoC. Rumours state the Kirin 710 SoC will be built on 14nm process, not the 12nm process. The codename of the handset is said to be Paris. The TENAA listing did not reveal the processor as Kirin 710, instead, it states the clock speed of the SoC will be 2.36GHz, which definitely doesn't belong to the Kirin 659 SoC. The chipset will be mated to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.
Coming to the specifications revealed by the TENAA listing, the Nova 3 will sport a 6.3-inch display on the front with a resolution of 1080 × 2340 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone will have a notch on top of the display. The device will measure 7.3mm in thickness. The phone will boast of glass sandwich design, same as the Huawei P20 Lite.
The Nova 3 will rock quad camera setup- two on the front and two on the rear. The rear cameras include a 24MP primary shooter and a 16MP secondary shooter, while the front cameras will comprise of a primary 24MP shooter and a 2MP shooter. Other specifications revealed by the TENAA listing are 3650mAh battery and Android 8.1 Oreo.
The presentation slide leak highlights the Nova 3 will be launched on July 18 in China. The same smartphone is also expected to launch in India with a different moniker during the month of August or later on.
