Bharti Airtel has revised its entry-level prepaid plan of Rs 99. Airtel's Rs 99 plan is now offering benefits in-line with Reliance Jio's Rs 98 prepaid plan. The leading telecom operator has made a revision to the entry-level plan to offer double data to match the Jio's plan. The Rs 99 prepaid plan from Airtel now gives 2GB of 2G/3G/4G data along with unlimited local, STD & national roaming calls for 28 days. The plan also gives 100 SMS per day for the entire validity period. Jio's Rs 98 plan, on the flip side, is offering 2GB of 4G data, unlimited voice and 300 SMS for the validity period of 28 days.
In fact, Airtel managed to beat Jio with this revision as the Mukesh Ambani-owned telco is offering just 300 SMS for the entire validity period, while Airtel is giving 100 SMS per day, which in turn makes 2800 SMS for the validity period. In the voice calling and data benefit departments, both the telcos are offering equal benefits. Also, there’s no FUP on Airtel network for voice calling, same as Jio’s network.
Earlier this month, Airtel started providing 2GB data per day with the Rs 149 plan and 2.4GB data per day with the Rs 399 plan. And to stay ahead of Airtel, Jio has come with the additional data offer. But quickly, Airtel rolled back to the normal benefits. Airtel's Rs 149 prepaid plan is currently giving 1GB data per day, while the Rs 399 plan is giving 1.4GB data per day.
In other news, Airtel is also offering a data pack of Rs 98, under which it's providing 3GB data for 28 days. For some users, the same Rs 98 pack gives 5GB data for 28 days. Do make a note that the Rs 99 prepaid plan is valid only for select users and not an open market plan.
