Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Powerful Mid-Range Smartphone With Snapdragon 660 SoC Unveiled

Rumours were floating that Samsung was planning to launch the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star in China. Now the confirmation has come that the company has already unveiled the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Lite and A9 Star in an event. While the Galaxy A9 Star Lite is the same device which debuted in India as the Samsung Galaxy A6+ last month, the Galaxy A9 Star is a totally new device from the Korean manufacturer. Below we are detailing the specs of both the phones.

The Galaxy A9 Star comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ screen which renders 2220 x 1080 pixels resolution and the display is also the Super AMOLED Infinity display by Samsung with the company’s own signature 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone is driven by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform which is accompanied by Kryo 260 CPU and Adreno 512 GPU for graphics. As for memory, the Galaxy A9 Star packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card.

Speaking of imaging in these new phones, the Galaxy A9 Star features a 24MP + 16MP dual camera setup on the rear and a single 24MP camera on the front for selfies. The battery on this device is a 3700mAh non-removable one and also comes with fast charging support, keeping it up to date with the trend. The device dimensions measure to be 162.4 × 77.0 × 7.55 mm and it weighs 188 grams. The Galaxy A9 Star Lite, which as the name denotes is the Lite versions of the above phone, sports a smaller 6-inch display which again is a Super AMOLED Infinity display by Samsung with a similar Full HD+ resolution.

This second phone runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Mobile Platform under the hood and combines the power of Adreno 506 GPU along with 4GB of RAM. The internal storage on this device is of 64GB and is expandable up to 256GB via a MicroSD card. Speaking of cameras, the Galaxy A9 Star Lite sports a 16MP + 5MP dual camera setup on the rear side. The company has provided a 24MP camera on the front for selfies.

Users will be at ease since the phone supports dual SIM dual standby and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung’s Experience UI as its skin. The smaller phone which is the Galaxy A9 Star Lite also packs a smaller battery which has 3500mAh worth of power.

The colour options for the Galaxy A9 Star will be Black and White while that for the Galaxy A9 Star Lite will be Black and Blue colour. As for the pricing, the Galaxy A9 Star and A9 Star Lite will retail at 3699 Yuan and 2699 Yuan respectively (approx Rs 38,500 and Rs 28,100 respectively). As mentioned, the Galaxy A9 Star Lite is the same Galaxy A6+ smartphone unveiled in India a while back.
