Samsung has yet again slashed the prices of its last year's flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in India. The new MOP (Market Operating Price) of the Galaxy S8 is Rs 45,990, while the same of the Galaxy S8+ is Rs 51,900. This is the second price drop from Samsung in less than two months. Earlier in April 2018, Samsung reduced the price of the Galaxy S8 to Rs 49,990, while the S8+ retailed for Rs 53,990 in the country until now. However, Samsung listed the Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red variant on its Samsung Shop for Rs 37,990 and the Galaxy S8+ is listed for Rs 43,990. E-commerce portal Flipkart also listed both the phones at Rs 37,990 and Rs 43,990, but clearly stated it as on offer, so maybe the prices will be back to normal after the Flipkart Big Shopping Days.

The new MOP was tweeted by Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom. For the unaware, MOP or Market Operating Price is the price at which the product will be available to the retailer. Do make a note that the retailer did not post the MRP of the devices. The 128GB variant of the Galaxy S8+ is still available at Rs 64,900 on Paytm Mall, but with Rs 10,000 cashback, the price will be down to Rs 54,900.

This is an unexpected move considering both the devices are the top-selling devices of last year. But the successors Galaxy S9 duo already arrived and are available for purchase at Rs 57,900 and Rs 64,900 respectively.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ were the company's 2017 flagship smartphones launched at a price tag of Rs 57,900 and Rs 64,700. Both the phones did not receive a price cut for more than a year, but once Galaxy S9 duo arrived in India, the company reduced the prices of both the smartphones. And as stated, in less than two months, the price has been reduced twice in the country. Also, the price cuts might be an indication that Samsung might reduce the prices of Galaxy S9 devices because they're not selling in big number in India.
