OnePlus 6 India Launch Scheduled for May 17, First Sale on May 21

OnePlus has officially announced that it will be launching the OnePlus 6 smartphone in India on May 17. The OnePlus 6, which is also termed as 'The Speed You Need' will go official on May 17 in Mumbai. Earlier today, OnePlus confirmed the launch of the OnePlus 6 in China for May 17 and now, it has sent a media statement about the India launch. Furthermore, OnePlus has stated that it's going to host the biggest every community event in India and the entry vouchers for the same will be available via oneplus.in from 10 AM on May 8, 2018. Interested OnePlus fans looking to attend the event can purchase the tickets and watch the event live from the venue. OnePlus also confirmed that the first sale of the OnePlus 6 would happen exclusively for Amazon Prime members on May 21 at 12 PM IST.

"Over the past four years, OnePlus has been built and shaped around its community. To celebrate the announcement of OnePlus 6 in India, the company will host the biggest ever community event in its history," said OnePlus in the media statement.

Furthermore, all fans who attend the launch event will get a gift hamper full of super add-ons and exclusive Marvel Avengers merchandise. Also, the event will be live-streamed. So finally, the much-awaited smartphone's launch date has been revealed.

The pricing and other details about the phone will be revealed on the launch day, but for now, we have some details about the device, as confirmed by OnePlus itself. The OnePlus 6, as the name itself, suggests will succeed the OnePlus 5T in the Indian market. The OnePlus 5T, like in other countries is now out of stock in India too.

The OnePlus 6 will feature a 6.28-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a notch on top. The smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. There will be dual camera setup at the back, followed by a single front-facing camera.

The smartphone will run Android 8.1 Oreo-based OxygenOS ROM out of the box with a promise of several new features. The OnePlus 6 will be backed by a 3400mAh battery, as hinted by several rumours. The phone will have water resistant properties and might feature wireless charging too. It's also the first OnePlus device to sport a glass back. The pricing of the base variant is expected to start from Rs 34,999 with the premium 256GB storage option said to be retail at Rs 46,999. Nothing is confirmed from OnePlus on the pricing front though.
