Lenovo has announced the new line-up of ThinkPad laptops in India today. The latest instalment in the series includes ThinkPad X1 along with the other T, X and L series of laptops. These high-end laptops have been known for their productivity-focused features and come equipped with 8th Gen Intel Core Processors. Lenovo has not decided to make changes to the design of the laptops when compared to the previous iteration of ThinkPad laptops. The build of the machines remain the usual sleek and thin and come with many new attributes like HDR screens for the premium offerings, enhanced security including physical webcam covers, USB-C power adapters and additional Thunderbolt ports.
Lenovo’s carbon fibre technology which the company uses to build its laptop chassis has led the ThinkPad X1 Carbon to remain as the lightest 14-inch notebook in the market. The company also claims that this makes the laptop ‘virtually unbreakable.’ Lenovo has also manufactured the X1 Yoga and the ThinkPad X1 Carbon which are the first laptops in the world to sport a Dolby Vision HDR which supports 500 nits of brightness. The new ‘Glance Eye Tracking’ technology that Lenovo has implemented in the laptops uses the IR camera to better the security on the laptops. Furthermore, the Lenovo X1 Yoga is a convertible laptop which ships with global LTE-A capability and an integrated pen.
Both the laptops are commercially available in the country starting today. However, they can be bought on the Lenovo online store from next month onwards. The ThinkPad Carbon X1 debuts at the price of Rs 1,21,000 while the X1 Yoga ships at a tad bit higher price of Rs 1,26,000.
The existing series of the X, T and L has also been refreshed by Lenovo and now come with 8th- generation Intel Core processors. The X series of laptops includes the ThinkPad X280 (priced Rs 73,000), and ThinkPad X380 Yoga (priced Rs 87,000) in its portfolio. This new line-up of laptops especially outshines its competition when it comes to power, charging and build. The laptops provide 80% of charge only in 60 minutes of plug time. This line-up which will be available starting April 2018 includes the X280 which offers a battery life of 16.6 hours while its partner, the X380 Yoga delivers 13.6 hours of battery life. The X280 is also 20% lighter and 15% thinner in comparison to the other model and comes with impressive aesthetics.
Moving onto the T series of the laptops, The ThinkPad T480 debuts at Rs 69,000, the ThinkPad T480s debuts at Rs 86,000 and the ThinkPad T580 debuts at Rs 74,000. The T580 also comes with an optional upgrade to a UHD Display powered by discrete graphics. The new laptops also come laden with many features like IR cameras, fingerprint reader and a physical webcam shutter which Lenovo calls ThinkShutter. Also, Lenovo claims that the T series of laptops can deliver up to 27 hours of battery life on a full charge, which speaking from market standards is a remarkable feat by Lenovo.
Lastly, the L-series of the line-up includes 13-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch notebooks and optimal multi-touch support accompanied with a docking solution. Speaking about the pricing of the L-series, The ThinkPad L380 retails at Rs 61,000; the ThinkPad L380 Yoga retails at Rs 65,000, the ThinkPad L480 retails at Rs 54,000 and the premium L580 at Rs 55,000. Additionally, the L580 comes equipped with discrete AMD graphics.
