Nokia 8 Receiving March 2018 Security Update Weighing 75MB

It seems like folks at Nokia Mobile are on a mission to deliver new software updates to their smartphones. Nokia has started pushing the March 2018 security patch update to its flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8. If you’re Nokia 8 owner, head over to the System Updates section hidden under About Phone section in Settings app for the 75.5MB over-the-air (OTA) update. Besides the latest security patch additions, Nokia did not include anything new, and we’re not expecting any new features from the company as well.

Nokia has already promised that all of its smartphones will come with stock Android on board without any exclusive features like the OxygenOS on OnePlus devices. Also, at the MWC 2018 event, the company announced the biggest partnerships ever in the Android history saying that all the Nokia phones will be part of Google’s Android One program, meaning they will receive monthly security patch updates, in-line or just days after the Google Pixel devices. The Nokia 8 is currently on Android 8.1 Oreo, and it also became the first non-Google device to run Android 8.1.

Sounds promising, right? It’s actually. While companies such as Xiaomi playing on the value for money game, Nokia is looking to regain the lost place with user experience, build quality and quicker software updates, leaving the value for money aspect altogether. However, it’s believed that Xiaomi is ramping up its software update cycle to be in-line with emerging brands who’re focusing on the software part.
