Last year Xiaomi dipped their feet into the waters of the television market with the introduction of the 43-inch and 48-inch 1080p, 55- inch and 65-inch 4K HDR TVs and also the cheapest 32-inch smart TV in the Mi TV 4A series. This year they made a new addition to the 4A series in January and finally today they’re taking a step ahead with advancing the series further with the latest 40-inch Full HD TV in China. And this news comes right ahead of the launch of the Mi TV series in India, which is scheduled for March 7 at 3:00 PM.
Xiaomi seems to be dwelling on the latest AI-based technology. Apparently, the Xiaomi TV runs on the PatchWall, a UI layer based on the Android OS. The appealing thing about the platform is that it’s going to curate suggestions and recommendations on its own, based on your watching patterns.
All this will be accompanied by DTS Sound and Dolby, also not to forget an infrared plus voice remote which can allow you to change channels without even twitching your finger. Also, Bluetooth has been added to the list to enable the TV to work with setup boxes and a larger range of devices.
Now diving deep into the specifications of the device, we notice a 178-degree viewing angle with the TV offering an 8ms dynamic response rate and a 5000:1 contrast ratio. On the hardware side, the TV runs on a 1.5 GHz quad-core Amlogic L962-H8X Cortex-A53 processor paired with 750MHz Mali-450 MP3 GPU.
The memory is 1GB RAM with 8GB internal storage. The latest Mi TV is going to let you connect a plethora of devices with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, two HDMI ports, AV and two USB ports and of course an Ethernet spot. The supported codecs will be H.263, H.264, H.265, MPEG 1/2/4. And like we mentioned Dolby Audio and DTS are definitely going take the notch up a level of the two 8W speakers.
Now talking about the pricing of the Mi TV 4A 40-inch, Xioami has priced it at 1699 Yuan which turns out be approximately Rs 17,450 Xiaomi is all set to start the pre-booking from today in its homeland China, also an initial discount of 100 Yuan is set to be in place, bringing the price further down to 1599 Yuan or Rs 16,420 approximately. We're not sure whether Xiaomi will be launching this new model in India or not.
