With every passing day, anticipation around Xiaomi's upcoming budget phablet, the Redmi Note 5 is growing. A new report coming from China suggests that Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 5 by the end of February and it will come in two variants. The base variant will make use of the Snapdragon 630 SoC, while the premium variant is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 636 SoC. Prices of the device are expected to be 1499 Yuan for the base variant and 1799 Yuan for the premium variant.

Just yesterday, two unknown Xiaomi smartphones with model numbers- MEE7S and MET7S received 3C approval in China, and they're now said to be Redmi Note 5 itself. Earlier, the Redmi 5 Plus received certification as Xiaomi MEE7 and MEE7, which is the reason behind this speculation.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Rumoured Specifications
The popular Chinese portal mydrivers today revealed the complete specifications of the Redmi Note 5. As per the report, the Redmi Note 5 will still feature unimetal body design with nano-injection molding antenna design. Like the Redmi 5 Plus, the Redmi Note 5 is said to sport a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, but the brightness levels may be increased.

Earlier, it was rumoured that the Redmi Note 5 would sport dual camera setup at the back, a first in any Redmi smartphone. And today's report is in-line with the earlier one as it suggests the phone will feature a 16MP primary camera at the back, which will be coupled with a 5MP secondary sensor. The secondary sensor may capture depth information. At the front of the phone, we may get an 8MP selfie camera, up from the 5MP unit seen on the Redmi 5 Plus and Redmi Note 4.

The Redmi Note 5 will boot Android 7.0 Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box, which would be a letdown as other budget smartphones are releasing with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

Coming to the major aspect- processor. This leak says that Xiaomi will use two processors to power the Redmi Note 5. The base variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage will be powered by the Snapdragon 630 SoC, while the other variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage will arrive with Snapdragon 636 SoC. Having said that, take this news with a pinch of salt as several earlier rumours for various other Xiaomi smartphones suggested the same, but Xiaomi used only one processor for a smartphone. But it will be either Snapdragon 630 or Snapdragon 636 SoC for sure. Also, Xiaomi is said to use the unannounced Snapdragon 632 SoC to power the Redmi Note 5, but that seems to be a fake rumour.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pricing and Availability
As per this report, the Redmi Note 5 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant will arrive with a price tag of 1499 Yuan (approx. Rs 14,900) and 1799 Yuan (approx. Rs 17,900) for the 4GB RAM and 64GB variant. The phone is expected to launch at the end of February.
