Back in September 2017, Xiaomi launched its first Android One smartphone, the Mi A1 at Rs. 14,999 in India. The smartphone was initially made available in two colour options- gold and matte black. Starting tonight, the Mi A1 will be available in a new avatar- Rose Gold. The new colour variant will be exclusively available on Flipkart at 12 AM, November 21.
At the launch event itself, Xiaomi said that the Rose Gold colour option would be launched later this year. Sticking to its words, Xiaomi launched the new colour option today. Thankfully, the Rose Gold colour variant will also be made available at the same price of Rs. 14,999.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 is the Chinese company's first Android One smartphone, developed in collaboration with Google. Xiaomi uses the tagline 'Created by Xiaomi, Powered by Google,' for the Mi A1, and it perfectly justifies the same. For the unaware, the Mi A1 is a slightly modified version of the Xiaomi Mi 5X smartphone, which it launched in China. The Mi 5X boots Xiaomi's MIUI 9, whereas the Mi A1 runs stock Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
Talking about the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi A1 flaunts a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a 2.5D curved and Corning Gorilla Glass on top. At the heart of the phone, there's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Graphics in the device are taken care by Adreno 505 GPU.
The highlight of the Mi A1 is the flagship dual camera setup at the back. The A1 has two 12MP sensors at the rear- a primary RGB 12MP wide-angle sensor, and a secondary 12MP sensor with a telephoto lens for 2X Zoom. The Mi A1 has a 5MP front-facing camera.
It comes laden with stock Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box, and Xiaomi even promised Android Oreo update for the smartphone by the end of 2017. Currently, the Mi A1 is running October 2017 security patch update and is yet to receive November 2017 security patch update. This entire package is backed by a 3080mAh battery with no fast charging support, sadly.
