Sharp has added a new phone to its product portfolio, dubbed as Sharp Aquos R Compact. For the unknown, Sharp is a Japanese smartphone brand who is a pioneer in bezel-less display smartphones. Continuing its tradition of offering bezel-less phones, Sharp has now announced the Aquos R Compact.

Like it looks, the Aquos R Compact also packs a punch when it comes to specifications. The Aquos R Compact has a 4.9-inch Full HD display, which is a rare thing with smartphones releasing these days. Also, the bezel-less design makes the device even more compact.

At the heart of the phone, there's the upper mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, which is an octa-core chip built on 14nm manufacturing process. The chipset is accompanied with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

At the back of the phone, there's a 16.4MP camera with PDAF and LED flash support. And at the front, we get an 8MP camera, and the front-facing camera placement is identical to the Essential smartphone placement. As said earlier, a fingerprint sensor is present below the display.

Powering this entire package is a relatively smaller 2500mAh battery which also has support for QuickCharge 3.0. Sharp has added all the major connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C. Interestingly, this smartphone is also IP68 certified.

Lastly, the Sharp Aquos R Compact comes laden with Android 8.0 Oreo with the company's EMOPA 7.0 custom skin. The device will be available in several colour options- Gold, Black, White, and Silver. Sharp is yet to announce the price of the smartphone, but the availability of the device will be from December 2017.
