South Korean smartphone giant is having a great run with its Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. In June, a report claimed that Samsung shipped over five million units of Galaxy S8 and S8+ in its homeland South Korea, and now, a Strategy Analytics report says that the vendor has now shipped close to 20 million units of Galaxy S8 and S8+ globally.
It comes as no surprise because the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are possibly the best-looking smartphones available for purchase at the moment. With the Infinity Display technology, Samsung has impressed consumers across the world, and they sport the high-end hardware as well.
Everyone expected that Samsung would face a tough challenge in selling the Galaxy S8 duo because they're the company's flagship smartphones coming after the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. Yes, Samsung recalled over four million units of Galaxy Note 7 due to explosions, and recently Samsung released the same smartphone as Galaxy Note Fan Edition.
The report further says that Samsung shipped 19.8 million units of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ by the end of June, and even crossed the 20 million mark in early July. So, it's safe to assume that the shipping number would be increased by another two or three million. The report also adds that Samsung shipped close to 278,800 Galaxy S8 & S8+ units per day.
The average selling price (ASP) of Samsung smartphones increased to $235 from $227 due to the success of Galaxy S8 duo. This news would be a great one for Samsung as the company is now looking to launch the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23.
The challenge for Samsung now will be the Galaxy Note 8 sales. After the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, consumers lost trust in the brand, but the brand regained it with the Galaxy S8 duo. For now, the Galaxy Note 8 is expected to come with a larger 6.3-inch display and S-Pen support. And it will be the brand's first dual camera smartphone as well. So, expect the Galaxy Note 8 to achieve the same success as Galaxy S8 duo. Also, Samsung is looking to price the Note 8 on a steeper side at Euro 999 (approx. Rs. 76,000).
