Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G With BHIM App In-Built Announced in India at Rs. 5,290

Indian smartphone brand, Karbonn has launched yet another entry-level smartphone in India namely- the Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G. The K9 Kavach 4G is the cheapest smartphone to have a fingerprint scanner. Karbonn has added the fingerprint scanner to make payments via the device, and the device also comes with BHIM app pre-installed.

The device comes with a price tag of Rs. 5,290 and carries entry-level specifications on paper. Karbonn also said that the device could be purchased via all the offline stores later this week. As mentioned earlier, the device comes with BHIM application inbuilt, which allows you to pay digitally. Also, Karbonn promises that the "BHIM app's access and securitisation mechanisms have been integrated at a firmware level, making it safer to use."

Besides the BHIM app, the K9 Kavach 4G also comes with features such as e-KYC and Aadhaar authentication to promote Digital India campaign. Furthermore, applications such as Digilocker and e-Gov service access, which allows you to pay your friends in the contact list and messenger apps as well. Users can also pay their utility bills right from the device itself.

The specifications of the K9 Kavach 4G are mediocre. This dual-SIM smartphone sports a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels, which is an unusual feature in this price range. The phone is powered by a 1.25GHz quad-core chipset (might be a Spreadtrum processor), clubbed with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The storage is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card.

Optics-wise, the Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G comes with a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. Frontal, there's a 5MP camera as well, but there's no support for LED flash though.

Connectivity options in the phone include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, FM Radio, and micro USB port for USB OTG support. A 2300mAh battery backs this entire package.
