Just a two years ago, getting a smartphone with a good camera was a distinct dream and a fool’s errand. But this scenario changed quickly, special thanks to Chinese smartphone vendors for upping their ante. Back in 2015, it was a relatively new brand, Qiku, who launched the first ever dual camera phone, the Qiku Q Terra, which was quickly followed by other brands such as Huawei, LG, Xiaomi, Apple, etc.

Honor 6X

It was just a matter of time that the dual camera phones came into the budget segment with the introduction of Coolpad Cool 1 and Huawei Honor 6X. Both the smartphones came to India recently and are placed well below the sub Rs. 15,000 price bracket. Other than the USP as cameras, both the Coolpad Cool 1 and Honor 6X boast of competitive hardware. Here’s how both these phones fare against each other, specifications wise.

1) Display

Both the Coolpad Cool 1 and Huawei Honor 6X comes with the same display size of 5.5-inches and the screen used by both the phones is an IPS LCD panel. Hardware wise, the Coolpad Cool 1 and Honor 6X comes with competitive specifications. The Cool 1 comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. On the flip side, the Honor 6X comes in two variants: one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and the other one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

The chipset used in the Honor 6X is Huawei’s in-house Kirin 655 chipset, which is slightly less powerful than the Snapdragon 652 SoC as it used Cortex A53 cores compared to the Cortex A72 cores on the Snapdragon 652. But, the Kirin 655 is built up on 14nm manufacturing process, which can withstand phone from heating for longer durations.

3) Connectivity and Operating System

Both the phones have all the standard set of connectivity options such as the Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, 4G LTE, VoLTE. The Honor 6X comes with a new feature called as Wi-Fi Repeater, which acts as a Wi-Fi modem by collecting signals from the nearby modem.

The Coolpad Cool 1 is the first smartphone from LeEco and Coolpad after their collaboration with each other. The Cool 1 runs on LeEco’s EUI 4.8 with all the features seen on the LeEco smartphones.
