The Opera Max technology has been successfully powering the MIUI Data Saver feature for millions of Xiaomi users in China for more than a year.

Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi Global, said: “Our vision is bringing innovation to everyone. The Data Saver feature on our phones, powered by Opera, is a perfect example of how we apply this philosophy to our software and services. This new feature will give all of our users much more out of their data plans, and I believe Mi fans all over the world will love how this feature keeps their Internet costs under control.”

As soon as the user turns on the MIUI Data Saver feature on Xiaomi phones, powered by Opera Max compression technology, the service works across any app on the device. This release will also include the latest Opera Max innovations, enabling compression and optimization of streaming video and audio, including popular services such as YouTube, Instagram, Line, Lazada, among others. The partnership between the two companies is based on a shared vision of making it easier to access mobile Internet.
