Microsoft is going forth aggressively as far as its Indian prospects are concerned. It recently announced that it will be re-branding all Nokia Priority Resellers to Microsoft Priority Resellers and has now launched the cheapest Windows smartphone, the Lumia 430 in India at a price of Rs 5,299. The smartphone will be available for purchase starting today itself and will be upgrade-able to Windows 10 too.

Lumia-430

The Lumia 430 is an entry level device so you can't really expect it to top the performance charts. The fact that Windows 8.1 has been optimised to run on low-specifications further contributes to the device being a decent performer in the budget segment. It has a 4-inch display and gets a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 to do the processing needed. There's a 2-megapixel camera at the rear which is complemented by a VGA camera up front.

Let us take a quick look at the specifications of the device:

  • 4-inch LCD display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution
  • 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage, further expandable up to 128GB via microSD, 30GB of OneDrive cloud storage
  • Windows Phone 8.1 OS with Lumia Denim
  • 2-megapixel rear camera and VGA front camera
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with aGPS and dual SIM connectivity
  • 1,500 mAh battery

The smartphone will have the recently launched Micromax Canvas Spark as its arch rival. Let us see how it performs in the sales department.
