Android One smartphones to be available in more countries later this year

During the official launch of Android One smartphones today, Google has also announced that they are planning to expand this program with to more countries later this year with the help of nine new brands onboard. Asus, HTC, Panasonic, Acer, Lava, Xolo, Intex, Alcatel Onetouch, and Lenovo would release Android One smartphones.

In an official blog post by Sundar Pichai himself, it has been announced that the Android One program will expand to Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal by the end of the year, with more countries set to follow in 2015.

As of now, MediaTek was the only SoC supplier for these budget smartphones. But now, Google has announced that Qualcomm will soon start supplying processing chips (SoCs) for future Android One smartphones. At the price point of $100, it could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 which was announced recently with inbuilt 4G LTE connectivity.

The Android One smartphones which were announced today will receive Android L update as soon. Could we see 64-bit Android One smartphones?
