BSNL Revises Prepaid 2G and 3G Tariff Plans As Per TRAI’s New Regulation

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) the pan-India 3G mobile service provider has revised its prepaid tariff plans and STVs to implement the TRAI’s new tariff regulation TELECOM CONSUMERS PROTECTION REGULATIONS- 2012. The revised tariff will be effective from 21st March 2012.

While STVs should be used for Plan/Tariff and tariff validity period (maximum 90 Days only).

According to our exclusive sources, BSNL will be the first telecom operator which is going to implements all above new guidelines for its prepaid 2G and 3G Mobile service by tomorrow i.e. 21st March, 2012.

When BSNL 3G SIM card did not function well for my desktop through Huawei E273 dongle, I though I will try the highly ‘praised’ Airtel. I took a connection from a local agency and completed the formalities.

I found that Airtel 3G was worse than BSNL’s 3G, (was slower than 2G’s of Reliance and BSNL). While I was struggling with Internet connectivity, Airtel sent regular messages every few hours to submit application form and other documents. I replied that I have. When they sent an ultimtum, I ignored the local agency who did the paper and liaison work, visited the local AirTel distributor’s place. The place is located approximately 7 Kilometers from my place. I am a 70+ year old slightly disabled old man. I had to make three trips. I found, in the distributor’s computer as well as in the books, in manuscript handwritten entry, the details of my papers. Airtel had not sent any pending or rejected message to the distributor. When I tried to speak to a human official (not IVR responses), I was told that if I recharge for an additional of Rs.180/= or so, I can speak to the customer service, as well as receive my ‘real’ 3G activation!!! While in this process, after I recharged for Rs.180/= they terminated my account and invalidated my SIM!!! Thereafter many complaints to Airtel, Nodal and Appellate Airtel proved to be ineffective. They rarely committed by emails, always preferring to send only ‘unsaveable’ texts. I sent copies to TRAI and also Consumer Forum. They wanted the complaint Docket number. I could not obtain the docket number. I got tired of the whole episode and have mentally written off my losses, sufferings and efforts as an experience in life at this last stage of my life!!!

I use two SIM cards of BSNL 3G and one SIM card of BSNL 2G. All three are for Internet/data usage only. I get perplexing validity and expiry dates for all the SIM cards. I have not yet been able to get a proper response to my queries. AT present many of the BSNL’s incomprehensible rules/regulations have been submitted to CMD’s Secretariat of BSNL Head Quarters. There are many more.

Recently, when a SIM’s (3G) expired, I did the recharge, advised by the customer serivice official. It was revalidated alright, but for a period of slighly less than five months (5 Months!). I find it intriguing!!! I hope I get some answers soon!

BSNL is a bull shit service.Never buy their Card or Mobile connection.I have lost 1000s of Rs due to wrong information given by their representatives either online or at customer care.I repent for the cost of purchase of 3G data card as it has got waste.Being government their people are useless and careless and least bothered and all illeterate and also confuses due to recharge and topup as seperate recharging options.

Will you please let the public know how to activate GPRS 3G plan in 3G Prepaid Card ( not data card )? Your customer care told me to send message “DATA601″ TO 53733 TO GET 3GB DATA FOR 3 MONTHS IN A 3G PREPAID CARD ( NOT DATA CARD ). If this is correct why not you make the public know this? I was also told to send message “DATA252″ to get one month validity 1GB data to 53733. But this information is not available in your website. How do you expect public to avail your services without letting them know how to avail such service?

Can Anybody inform me how to increase validity, in BSNL per second and per minute@49p plan now.
We were getting validity of 45 days by recharge of Rs. 50 to 99, & validity of 90 days by recharge of Rs 100 above and so on..

You have to recharge with Plan voucher of the desired plan and it will extend you validity by 180 days. Don’t get confused the plan voucher is same as the FRC mentioned in this article. And you will also get the Free Usage Allowed with Plan Voucher. For per second plan it is Rs.42 & for per minute it is Rs.37

It means now we will require to get STV recharge after every 90 days to continue in the plan as for Rs.28/- for per second plan,Rs.25/- for per mnt plan and Rs.28/56/80 for Piyari jori for 90 days validity only with zero talk time. Its a extra burden on customers.

Sorry for misguiding. Yes, you are right. For increasing the validity in general plan we have to recharge with a above given plan voucher after completion of present validity. Now there will be no validity on topup only talktime. I have get it confirmed from cc and Mr.Sanjay Bafna has also explain it. Thank You Sanjayji…

BSNL IS FAR BETTER THAN OTHER OPERATORS EXCLUDING SOME MINOR SERVICES. AS A GOVERNMENT FIRM, ITS TRUE, THERE IS SOME LIMITATION IS THERE. WE MUST ENCOURAGE THE GOOD SERVICES AND ADVICE TO THE MANAGEMENT TO SET RIGHT THE FAULTS.

  • KOU§IK March 22, 2012 2:15 pm

  • Sanjay Bafna March 21, 2012 7:07 pm

If you are confused with the new changes as per TRAI Regulations, this may help you :)
Plan Vouchers: – To enroll the customers in a tariff plan and extended its validity (maximum 90 Days).

Top-Up Vouchers: – To get monetary value (Talk Time) only.

Special Tariff vouchers: – To reduce cal charges or get free SMS or 2G/3G data.

NOW IT DOES NOT DEPEND ON YOUR SIM IT DEPENDS ON UR PACK IF U HAVE 3G SIM AND U RECHARGE IT WILL 2G PACK U WILL GET 2G SPEED, IF U HAVE 2G SIM AND U RECHARGE IT WITH 3G PACK U WILL GET 3G SPEED AND IF U HAVE 2G OR 3G SIM AND U HAVE NOT DONE ANY RECHARGE U WILL AUTOMATICALLY GET 3G SPEED

  • Pb March 21, 2012 5:20 pm

  • Pb March 21, 2012 5:18 pm

    @ravin
SIR ALL NUMBERS/SIMS ARE 3G ENABLED IN BSNL, MEANS IN 2G SIM U CAN DO A VIDEO CALL AND NORMAL VIDEO CALL CHARGES ARE DEDUCTED. IF U HAVE NOT RECHARGED YOUR NUMBER WITH ANY DATA PACK U WILL AUTOMATICALLY GET 3G SPEED. AND SECONDLY U CAN RECHARGED YOUR 2G SIM WITH ANY 3G DATA PACK AND U WILL GET 3G SPEED AND VICE VERSA FOR 3G SIM, MEANS IF U HAVE 3G SIM U CAN RECHARGE IT WITH 2G DATA PACK AND TILL THE VALIDITY OF UR 2G PACK U WILL GET 2G OR EDGE SPEED.AND ABOUT UR QUESTION IF U WANT TO MIGRATE FOR ANY ONE PLAN TO ANOTHER U HAVE TO DO A RECHARGE OF THAT PLAN FOR EXAMPLE IF U WANT TO MIGRATE TO PER SECOND PLAN YOU HAVE TO DO A RECHARGE OF Rs. 42 (THE AMOUNT SHOWN IN “MRP OF PLAN VOUCHER IN Rs.”) AND IF U WANT TO MIGRATE TO PER MIN PLAN THE RECHARGE YOUR NUMBER WITH Rs.37.

there will be no validity for using the talktime and validity of ur main account will get increase as you do top up as it was previously i.e on top up of Rs.55 you will get tt of Rs.49.86 and validity of 45days as ur main account validity and ur main account validity will be increase from what was before doing top up…

What the crap TRAI is. What about lifetime offers n all…Is TRAI cheating on customers..

  • Idris March 20, 2012 11:17 pm

TRAI has no work they are just messing the services….first they came with a foolish act by restricting sms to 100 per day and then 200 per day ,then the sender code for comercial at times it becomes dificult to understand the code of sender earlier it easy to understand the sender but not it is worst and there is no reduction in comercial sms as such now they are fiddling with the best offers of validity and tariffs making it rubbish…..they have cut off the lifetime validity as well TRAI is enemy of consumers…….We need a regulatory authority for TRAI who will check their foolish acts they never act on genuine complaints like service providers deduct the balance or activate the vas services without the permission of consumer that was their job but they are deviated to make the services rubbish……We Indians should raise voice against the TRAI acts they need to change their ways they should take steps against fradulant balance deductions instead of lowering the better packs which are consumer friendly…

    1) They follow GMT (not IST), means night pack is working from 04:30 AM- 12:30 PM instead of 11:00 PM- 07:00 AM.
    2) They deduct double data of use from GPRS account (*123*10#), but they do not provide double data.
I complained to customer care & mailed to nodal officer, but no action taken after a fortnight.

People in BSNL customer care cannot answer simple question as how to migrate from 2g sim to 3g sim. It is highly those aunties and uncles can understand and implement them. Better BSNL provide online recharge facility like Idea and Vodafone with voucher value and its benefits.
