OPPO has launched the Reno 12 5G series in India. It comprises a regular Reno 12 and a Reno 12 Pro. The highlight of the launch event was the announcement of OPPO AI powering the device. The decision to go with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 seems like an interesting choice from OPPO. Truth be told, I don’t know whether I would recommend this device for its power capabilities. This is because there’s a CMF Phone 1 that is offering the same chip at less than Rs 20,000, and then there’s the Reno 12 series, priced double, yet offering the same chip.

The likely reason why OPPO went with this chip was to reduce costs, but also get a decent NPU (neural processing unit) integrated chip to power AI features. The AI features on this device are truly promising, and we should check them out without wasting any time.

OPPO Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro Features and Specifications
The OPPO Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro are almost identical in specifications and design. The only major difference is in the camera, and then there’s a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the Reno 12 Pro while the Reno 12 features Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. With both devices, you get the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with 1200nits peak brightness, and a 5000mAh battery with SuperVOOC charging with 80W support.
