WhatsApp has been making quick updates to its Android and iOS apps as of late and has launched lots of exciting features like the ‘forwarded’ tag, mark as read and much more. Now it seems that WhatsApp will move its focus towards the desktop based WhatsApp Web which launched in 2015 for users who wanted to use WhatsApp on their desktop. The company is talking about moving the GIF button on the WhatsApp Web application.

The info comes from WABetaInfo, a popular blog which updates about WhatsApp’s latest features. The blog reported that WhatsApp had shared plans of moving the GIF button on its desktop website to make room for new features. Since WhatsApp is on the verge of launching stickers, it is entirely possible that by shifting the GIF button, WhatsApp will introduce stickers over its desktop version also.

The WhatsApp Web app launched in 2015 for users who did not wish to touch their phone while working in their office and wanted to stay in touch with their family and friends. Users of WhatsApp can access WhatsApp Web by clicking the three-dot menu, heading over to WhatsApp Web and scanning the QR code on their screen which comes up on web.whatsapp.com by accessing the site on their desktop.

Lately, WhatsApp is also working on a suspicious link feature which will warn the users about unusual characters in the link and will raise a warning flag when the user tries to visit the site. The suspicious link when detected with a strange character will be highlighted in red, and when the user attempts to visit the website he will have the option of continuing or return. This red marker will be shown along with a warning. The feature has been introduced to curb spamming on the platform. Right now the function remains limited to Android Beta only but is expected to follow to iOS as well. WhatsApp has also recently launched the ‘Mark as Read’ feature on its platform.
