Motorola’s cheapest modular phone, the Moto Z Play, which has been widely regarded as the best battery smartphone of 2016 (overshadowed by Lenovo P2 this year) came with decent specs on board. What made the smartphone special was the affordable price tag when compared to its elder brothers Moto Z and Moto Z Force. Motorola released the phone at the IFA 2016, and today a new render of the Moto Z2 Play has leaked by TechnoBuffalo.
The render reveals that the upcoming Moto Z2 Play retains the modular design as Moto Z Play, but there will be slight changes. Till date, Motorola released only two phones in 2017, and they are the Moto G5 and G5 Plus with a similar design. We’ve always said Motorola seems to be sticking with same design language for all their phone in the year.
If you look at the 2016 Motorola devices, the fingerprint sensor had a square shape, which was hated by many and the corners were more rounded. And in 2017, Motorola moved on from the square shaped scanner and changed it to an oval shaped one, which looks better.
As of now, an excess of six upcoming devices have leaked online, and all of them showed the same design language. Today’s leaked image of Moto Z2 Play also shows the same design language with an oval shaped scanner on the front, which could also be configurable to act as home, back, and recent apps menu.
The phone will retain the front-facing flash, but this time around, it will be a dual LED flash module that will add more light to your images. At the rear, it has the camera bump, and the Moto Mod pin is slightly reworked as well and is neatly arranged.
The clock on the image indicates June 8, which might be the release date of the phone, but that’s just a speculation by us. All said Motorola’s roadmap for 2017 would be a tidier one, going by the leaks as the company is planning to introduce new C series of phones, Moto E4 and E4 Plus, Moto X (2017), Moto Z2 and Z2 Force.
